MSIP Platinum CFI
Requirements
At any time, an instructor meets the qualifications for MSIP Platinum CFI, that instructor may apply to the MSIP Steering Committee for recognition by PMOPA as an MSIP Platinum CFI for the purpose of providing.
- Ground training; and/or
- Initial training; and/or
- Recurrent training; and/or
- Focused task-specific and/or situational-specific training (for example, landings/approaches, instrument proficiency, and mountain flying); and/or
- Mentor/LOFT.
An MSIP Platinum-candidate flight instructor must satisfy the following additional criteria:
- PMOPA member in good standing for at least the five preceding years; and
- PMOPA Event attendance:Provided contact information from 10 current clients who support the instructor for MSIP Platinum CFI recognition. The MSIP Steering Committee may verify the references; and
- Attended a PMOPA Convention within the preceding 24 months of the time of initial application; and
- Attended either a PMOPA Regional Event or Safety Program event within each of the preceding two calendar years; and
- Has instructed in M-Class aircraft for a minimum of the preceding five calendar years; and
- M-Class Variant Time Requirement: provided at least 750 hours of flight training in M-Class Variants, with at least 100 hrs. in the preceding 24 months; and
- Completed the MSIP Mentorship Program with an MSIP Steering Committee member (this requirement can only be satisfied by an MSIP Steering Committee member who did not serve as the applicant’s mentor for either the MSIP CFI or MSIP Gold echelon); and
- For initial application for recognition under the MSIP Program, demonstrate knowledge of PMOPA SEF Training Program and PMOPA Operating Practices, and ability to use the knowledge and training resources that support the PMOPA SEF Training Program; and
- Served at least four times as a volunteer, contributor/content creator/presenter during the preceding 24 months:
- During a PMOPA Convention or Regional/Safety Event.
- PMOPA webinar;
- PMOPA online training;
- PMOPA Magazine article;
- As an active participant in a PMOPA Safety Committee or Training Initiative; or
- Other volunteer project as approved by PMOPA’s CEO.
